Ras Al Khaimah is one of seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates with about 400,000 inhabitants. The emirate is located on the Persian Gulf in the north of the country, on the border with the Omani exclave of Musandam and with another part in the south in the interior of the country.

The largest cities in the emirate include Ras Al Khaimah City, Masafi, Shamal, Al Rams and Al Dhait.

Ras Al Khaimah has a diverse vegetation due to the frequent rainfall of its Hajar Mountains. There are also mangrove forests and salt marshes on the emirate's territory. The highest point in the emirate and in the entire United Arab Emirates is the 1,934-meter-high Jebel Jais.

The most important economic sectors in Ras Al Khaimah are agriculture, tourism and the well-known ceramics producer “RAK Ceramics”. In agriculture, oranges and dates are mainly grown.

Tourism plays an important role in the emirate’s economy with the three waterfront projects Al Hamra VIllage, Al Marjan Island and Mina Al Arab.

The most important attractions in Ras Al Khaimah include Jebel Jais Mountain with its 2.8 km long zipline - the longest zipline in the world, Ras Al Khaimah National Museum, Ice Land Water Park, Fun City, Al Sawan Camel Racetrack, Dhayah Fort, Al Jazeera Al Hamra Fort, Al Hamra Marina, Saqr Park, Al Hamra Mall, Wadi Shawka, Khatts Springs Hot Springs, Ras Al Khaimah Ghost Town, Shimal Ruins, Fish Market, Wadi Bih, Khozam Park and Ras Al Khaimah City Beach Promenade.

The capital of the emirate of the same name has about 290,000 inhabitants. The city has a natural harbor and is about an hour away from the metropolis of Dubai.

So far I have been to the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah about 20 times. The newly built Al Hamra Village project offers excellent sandy beaches with many bars and restaurants. A visit to the emirate is definitely worthwhile and is very popular with "all-inclusive" tourists.
