Der australische Teil der Antarktis befindet sich zwischen 45 und 136 Grad Ost sowie zwischen 142 und 160 Grad Ost. Trotz des unterbrochenen geringen franz\u00f6sischen Territoriums, ist der australische Teil, der Gr\u00f6\u00dfte in der gesamten Antarktis.<\/p>\n

Allerdings erhebt der australische Staat, wie sechs weitere Nationen auch, lediglich einen Anspruch auf ein bestimmtes Gebiet. Laut dem Antarktisvertrag aus dem Jahre 1961, wurden allerdings jegliche Anspr\u00fcche nie anerkannt.<\/p>\n

Insgesamt gibt es derzeit auf diesem antarktischen Gebiet 11 aktive Stationen und es wird in neun Distrikte unterteilt.<\/p>\n

Die einzelnen Distrikte sind Oates Land, K\u00f6nig-Georg-V.-Land, Wilkes-Land, K\u00f6nigin-Marie-Land, Kaiser-Wilhelm-II-Land, Prinzessin-Elisabeth-Land, Mac-Robertson-Land, Kemp-Land sowie Enderby-Land.<\/p>\n

Australien betreibt mit der Mawson-Station im Mac-Robertson-Land, auch eine ganzj\u00e4hrig besetzte Station auf dem siebten Kontinent.<\/p>\n

Bisher war ich noch nicht auf dem Gebiet der australischen Antarktis.<\/p>\n

Ein Besuch dorthin ist derzeit noch nicht geplant, w\u00fcrde aber sp\u00e4testens mit einer Reise zum S\u00fcdpol erledigt werden.<\/p>\n

Fl\u00fcge zum S\u00fcdpol werden zweimal j\u00e4hrlich im Dezember, f\u00fcr rund 50.000,- US-Dollar angeboten. Vielleicht wird es allerdings auch ein ewiger Traum von mir bleiben.<\/p>\n
