Norway is a country in Northern Europe on the Scandinavian Peninsula. The kingdom borders Sweden to the east and Finland and Russia to the northeast.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Human Development Index has ranked Norway as the most developed country in the world for many years. The state also has one of the most generous and best social systems in the world.<\/p>\n

Norway is one of the largest countries in Europe, but with only 5.3 million inhabitants it is very sparsely populated. The country's currency is the Norwegian krone, 1 euro is equivalent to around 9.50 NOK. The national language is Norwegian, a North Germanic language.<\/p>\n

The country's largest cities are Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Baerum, Kristiansand, Fredrikstad, Troms\u00f6 and Drammen.<\/p>\n

The long Atlantic coast of Norway consists of many narrow and deep bays, the so-called fjords. Around 150,000 islands surround the country, the most famous archipelagos being the Lofoten and the Vester\u00e4len, both north of the Arctic Circle.<\/p>\n

The capital of the Kingdom of Norway is Oslo, formerly Christiania, with around 670,000 inhabitants.<\/p>\n

The most famous sights in Oslo include the new Oslo Opera House, the Royal Palace, the town hall, the central shopping street Karl Johans Gate, the Holmenkollen with its ski museum, the old town of Gamlebyen, the Storting government building, the Oslo Cathedral and the National Theater.<\/p>\n

I have had the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Oslo three times so far, the last two times being in the summer of 2016. In July 2016 I continued on with Norwegian from Oslo to Svalbard\/Spitzbergen, after I had already traveled from Berlin with the same airline. Due to the difficult flight times, a day stop in Oslo was unavoidable. But when the summer weather was nice, I spent the day in the newly built Oslo Marina. In September 2016, I was a guest at the Oslo Ullevi Stadium at the international football match between Norway and Germany. During my first visit in June 2012, I had already seen the entire city on a bus tour.<\/p>\n

Norway's many waters are very popular among German anglers in summer, with cod and halibut high on the wish list. Boat tours through the Norwegian fjords are also very popular.<\/p>\n

The country of Norway has a lot to offer tourists at any time of the year. Due to the very harmonious atmosphere that prevails in the country, it is particularly popular with foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n
