The French Antarctic Territory consists of the island of Amsterdam, the Crozet Islands, the Kerguelen Archipelago, the island of Saint Paul, Adelie Land and the tropical island of Eparses.<\/p>\n

The islands are located mainly in the Indian Ocean southeast of R\u00e9union, far from the African mainland.<\/p>\n

France has the smallest of the seven Antarctic territories.<\/p>\n

During the winter months, approximately 220 researchers live in the French Antarctic territories, the official language is French and the euro is used as currency.<\/p>\n

The islands are mostly of volcanic origin and have no permanent inhabitants.<\/p>\n

I have not yet been to the territory of French Antarctica.<\/p>\n

A visit there is not planned.<\/p>\n
