Fujairah is the only emirate in the country not located on the Persian Gulf, but on the east coast of the Gulf of Oman.<\/p>\n<p>The border with Oman is only about 11 kilometers away, otherwise Fujairah borders on the Emirates of Sharjah, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and the Omani exclave of Musandam.<\/p>\n<p>The former all-red emirate flag was replaced by the national flag of the United Arab Emirates in 1975.<\/p>\n<p>The capital of the Emirate of Fujairah is the city of the same name, Fujairah, with around 120,000 inhabitants. The city has an airport and an important port for oil exports.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest attractions in Fujairah are the Fujairah Fort, north of the city, and Snoopy Island. This area around the small island is considered the best diving area in the entire United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p>I have visited the Emirate of Fujairah several times in recent years. The mountainous landscape is sometimes very impressive and throughout the emirate there is much less hustle and bustle than in the neighboring emirates. The 90-minute drive from Dubai through the endless desert landscape alone is very exciting.<\/p>\n<p>About ten years ago I went diving in Fujairah, around Snoopy Island, for the first and only time in my life. During this dive, which lasted about two hours, the first thing I lost when I put the mask on was my two expensive earrings in the water. I then quickly lost interest in this sport and immediately declared my diving career over. I later had to generally realize that diving was absolutely not my sport and that I would rather do without it in the future.<\/p>\n<p>For this unpleasant fact alone, I will always remember
